Sand Castles + Q&A (Ukraine Film Now)

"Sand Castles" is the story of Ukrainian artists and dreamers who have been representing Ukraine at Burning Man — one of the world’s most renowned cultural platforms — for over ten years.

Biljetter

What began as an adventure and an act of self-expression gradually evolved into a dialogue with the world — an artistic manifesto and a mission of cultural diplomacy.

Ukrainian art installations — Phoenix, I’m Fine, Blue Bull, Black Cloud — become entry points into the Ukrainian context for international audiences: they speak of loss, memory, resilience and freedom. The film reveals how these ideas are born, how much work and risk stand behind their implementation, and how their embedded messages resonate within the Burners community.

Following the screening, the audience is invited to join a conversation with artist Olexiy Sai, whose participation in Burning Man includes installations such as Ukrainian Phoenix (2023), I’m Fine (2024), and Black Cloud (2025), and filmmaker Serhii Huleikov — director, producer, and screenwriter of the film — about the making of the film, its artistic vision, and the collaboration behind it.
