Empowered tells the stories of seven prominent Ukrainians: human-rights defender Oleksandra Matviichuk, singer Jamala, violinist Bohdana Pivnenko, kobzar Taras Kompanichenko, artist Anatolii Kryvolap, DakhaBrakha and cinematographer Serhii Mykhalchuk.
Through their lives and work, the documentary presents a Ukraine that, even during full-scale war, continues to create culture, defend human rights, develop its arts and shape its future. Rather than defining Ukraine solely through what it is enduring, Empowered focuses on what Ukrainians are creating, defending and carrying forward.
