Biljetter

The movie Bucha is based on the true story of an unlikely hero and refugee from Kazakhstan who, in the spring of 2022, risked his life to save hundreds of Ukrainians in Bucha and other cities and towns occupied by Russian troops.

The year is 2022. Konstantin Gudauskas, a Jew born in Kazakhstan, received asylum in Ukraine after being expelled by the Kazakh government. He lives in Bucha. When Russia launches its full-scale invasion on February 24, he is able to travel into occupied territories thanks to his Kazakh passport and begins evacuating civilians. Over the following months, he rescues 203 people, witnessing firsthand the horrors and atrocities of the Russian occupation. Among those he saves is renowned Ukrainian composer Igor Poklad. Throughout this time, Konstantin is guided by Gaide Rizaeva — a Crimean Tatar and officer of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), who once survived Russian captivity and a death sentence. She helps him navigate the danger, but when he stops listening to her advice, tragedy strikes.

Producer Oleksandr Shchur will attend the screening and take part in a Q&A. “For us, Bucha is part of Ukraine’s cultural resistance. Russia is fighting not only on the battlefield, but also in the information space. Cinema allows us to speak directly to people through human stories.”

The screening is organised by Ukrainian Culture in Sweden and supported by Sigma Software Group, an international technology company with Swedish roots, which also partnered in the production of the film.
