Edith and Me

A singer is mysteriously muted and immobilized and can no longer perform. Yet she is not alone – the famous singer icon Edith Piaf is there to drag her out of bed and pull her back into life. "Edith and Me" is a one woman show with puppets, objects and singing created by Yael Rasooly from Israel.

The performance is part of the Pop Up Puppets International Festival hosted by Marionetteatern, at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm August 22-25, 2024. See full program here.

Together, the unlikely duo conjures up a partnership of solidarity and tenderness, setting out together on a voyage full of grandeur and vulnerability, grief and victory, competition and compassion.

This is a story of survival through art in the most physical sense imaginable. Edith and the singer will face the demons lurking close by – and those deep within – until a new, undeniable voice is born. The puppet show is based on a true story, when the creator Yael Rasooly was saved spiritually by Edith Piaf in a challenging time of her life.

Yael Rasooly and her company participated in the Pop Up Puppets International Festival 2022 with the plays Paper Cut and The House by the Lake.

Adults from 15 years.
